Job Description
Using a mobile crane, the employee in this position will load and unload trucks as well as handle materials for processing. The employee must have the agility to climb on and off the crane and move freely about the yard. This position reports directly to the yard foreman or manager.
- Operate the machine’s controls to perform designated tasks within the machine’s capabilities.
- Recognize the machine’s limitations to ensure safe operation in a variety of job situations.
- Identify operational control problems and report them to the supervisor for adjustment or repair.
- Assist mechanics with repairs and routine maintenance of the machines.
Required Skills
Must be able to travel and have transportation.
Strong work ethic with an unblemished work and attendance record.
Ability to work safely and independently in highly congested areas.
Strength and dexterity to lift and move up to 50 pounds manually during equipment maintenance.
Agility and flexibility to climb on various machine areas to grease and clean components.
Ability and willingness to follow directions and collaborate effectively with team members.
Extensive knowledge of safety requirements when working around heavy equipment.
Willingness and ability to learn new skills.
Strong coordination of eye, hand, and foot movements.
Previous heavy equipment experience, especially with excavators (backhoes).
