Job Description
- Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to final assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers
- Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications
- Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade
- Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding
- Understand the amount of pieces that need to be welded per hour, required welded pieces per job, and be able to achieve those goals
- Verify that parts being used in welding process are consistent and proper to adhere to requirements per first piece produced
Required Skills
- Technical certificate or vocational training in welding or equivalent of experience
- 1-2 years MIG welding, including layout and blueprint build experience
- Ability to perform and pass a weld test
